Lean On Me Foundation visits the HMP Fairbanks Prison

Representatives from The Lean on Me Foundation and the Miss Universe Cayman Islands Organization recently paid a meaningful visit to HMP Fairbanks prison, sharing messages of hope and empowerment with the inmates.

Derri Lee, from The Lean on Me Foundation, highlighted the importance of this initiative, which has been ongoing since 2008. By including contestants and titleholders from the Miss Universe Cayman Islands pageant, they aim to inspire with touching stories and endless aspirations.

Theresa Pitcairn, former Miss Cayman Islands and a shining example of success, emphasized the power of resilience and the importance of not judging others. Her words echoed the sentiment that despite challenges, it’s what we do about them that truly matters.

Ileann Powery, Miss Universe Cayman Islands 2023, shared her own journey, reminding everyone that life’s challenges don’t define us but shape us for the better. She encouraged the inmates to keep striving for better days, as their stories are still unfolding.

Diane Chung and Belinda Augustine, from The Lean on Me Foundation, also joined the team, bringing their dedication to community service to the forefront.

Special thanks to Melesia Adderley of the Women’s Haven for donating female products to the inmates and to Pastor Bentley and the prison staff for facilitating this impactful visit.
